In both college football and the NFL, the yard line to kickoff has been moved up to decrease the amount of hits taken on the kickoff play. Also, there are much stricter protocols that teams must abide by before letting a player back into the game. It has been proven that a player leading with the top of his helmet has a much greater chance of a concussion for not only himself, but also the player that he is tackling.
